celezonexa.org documents the places Canadians pass through every day
We photograph the bus stops, plazas, markets, rinks and libraries that make up ordinary city life in Canada — not as postcards, but as a record of how public space actually gets used.
Where it started
celezonexa.org began as a personal habit of one contributor carrying a camera through the same few blocks of a neighbourhood, week after week. Over time, the same bus shelter, the same corner store, and the same park bench started to reveal small, repeating patterns of daily life. What began as a personal project slowly grew into a shared archive as more photographers, in different cities across the country, started documenting their own familiar streets in the same spirit.
Today, celezonexa.org brings together contributors from coast to coast who share one goal: to look closely at the public spaces we usually walk past without noticing, and to keep an honest visual record of them over time.
Our approach
Public and freely accessible
We photograph spaces that anyone can walk into — streets, parks, transit platforms, markets and public libraries — rather than private or commercial interiors.
Repeat visits over time
We return to the same locations across seasons and times of day so that a single place is represented by many moments, not one.
Consent, always
Anyone who appears clearly in a photograph has agreed to be photographed and has seen how the image will be used before it is added to the archive.
No commercial use
celezonexa.org is an independent, non-commercial archive. Photographs are shared purely as a visual record, never sold or licensed for advertising.
The contributors
celezonexa.org is maintained by a small, informal group of photographers and writers based in different Canadian cities, each documenting the public spaces of their own neighbourhood. New contributors usually start by proposing a single location — a market, a rink, a transit line — and build a small photo essay around it over several visits.
